
Street painters in Italy are called madonnari, because they often created pictures representing the Madonna (one of the most common icons represented in the Roman Catholic Church). In England they are called screevers. They created images in public squares and in front of the local church using some of broken roof tiles, charcoal, and white chalk. Nowadays this painting is more common. One of the most recognized and outstanding artist is Kurt Webber. He bagan street paintng in Rome, inspired by anarmophisim (a technique to paint illusion of height in the surface of the floor) sooner became a worldwide phenomenom.
